An amazing round house that blends perfectly into a seaside cliff with stunning coastal gardens that sprawl around and into the terrace, cleverly shielding the living areas.

This three level, adobe-like house has suspended concrete floors which double as the next storey’s roof. The house is double brick rendered to achieve the adobe look, using builder’s sand for the orange colour, mixed with white and grey cement.

Rainwater runs down each patio level and returns to the sea. With light, space and flatness represents an aquatic version of the outback.

Built 1980, it featured in ‘House and Garden Annual’ that year.
